Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need therapy?

No two children are the same. Developmental norms are not one size fits all; it is just one measure. There is a wide range of what’s considered “normal” and our speech therapist can give you insight into your child’s whole speech-language development to see if there is a delay that requires professional attention. Early identification and treatment are crucial.

If you are unsure if your child needs therapy, contact us to get a free consultation where we will discuss your concerns without committing to an evaluation.

How long will my child be in therapy?

The duration and length of therapy depends on many factors, including your child’s current speech and language skills, the severity of their needs, how early the issue was identified, their previous therapy history, their participation in therapy, and more. Contact us to figure out what works best for your child.

Will my child grow out of their speech issues?

Recent research shows us that the “wait-and-see” approach is outdated and risky, therefore not recommended. “Wait-and-see” means losing out on acquisition and strengthening of foundational speech-language skills during a critical learning period of your child’s life. Studies show that children with untreated speech-language delays can be at a higher risk of social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive problems later in school and in adulthood. Given that, each type of speech-language challenge is assessed and treated differently. Discuss your concerns with a trained speech therapist.
